Dear Parents,

We've had a great start to our 2nd grade year!   We had fun going through our welcome bags and learning about how we are a new classroom community.  We started to explore our classroom and learn about all the new things 2nd graders get the chance to do!
Your child took their homework folder with a 'Homework Log' with them this evening.  The only homework they have tonight is to read the paper book titled, Good Homes Wanted.  Students should read this and attempt to answer the questions  throughout and at the end of the story.  The answers to the questions at the end are given, but please assist your child, and help them answer the questions without peeking!  These books will go home before each new math unit.  The books may stay at home and do not need to be returned to school.  However Please make sure your child returns their homework folder and homework log tomorrow. Their homework folder will be filled out each night, and needs to be signed by a parent or guardian at the end of the week.

Thank you so much for signing up for our first "Get to Know You" conference.   We look forward to meeting with you and getting to know your child better.  Please be sure to send the Pre-Conference questionnaire back to school before Friday.  We will use these as a springboard for our Friday conversations.

I will continue to send reminders and monthly newsletters via email and also post everything on our class blog. (The web address for this is http://2crockstarz.blogspot.com.)

Mrs. Hildahl and I are excited to be working with you and your child this year. If there is ever anything we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know. Email is the best way to reach either one of us!

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening and Friday.

Dear 2C Rock Stars,

Hello and welcome to second grade!  The first day of school will be here soon!  We hope to see you at the Ice Cream Social on Monday August 18 at 5:00.  Mrs. Hildahl and I are really looking forward to our new classmates!

We’re sure everyone had a wonderful summer vacation.  We would are asking all new members of 2C to bring in a special ‘artifact’ from your summer vacation on the first day of school.  This item could be anything from your summer that reminds you of a special time or place…a seashell, stuffed animal, postcard, etc.  Be prepared to share it with you new classmates.

We will be having specials during the first days of school so be sure to pack your P.E. shoes, art smock, and your swim suit.  You may bring in your other school supplies (pencil box, folders, tissues, quart zipper bags) at this time as well.  In the meantime please visit our class blog:  2Crockstarz.blogspot.com.

                             Rock on,
                                 Ms. Saide and Mrs. Hildahl
