Levi and his Mom shared about a Jewish Holiday, Rosh Hashanah, with the class yesterday. Levi read a book about Rosh Hashanah and Mrs. Mendelson read a book about Yom Kippur. We learned that Rosh Hashanah was the beginning of 10 days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur, which is the end of the Holiday. During Yom Kippur the adults fast and ask God for forgiveness for the mistakes they made during the past year. Also, Rosh Hashanah means New Year.

The 2C rock stars would like to thank Mrs. Mendelson for coming in and sharing an important Holiday with us. Also, thank-you for the yummy chocolate bread called babka.
Amelia was the first Rock Star of the school year. Here is explaining her "YOU ROCK" cards. The cards tell us some of her favorite things and about her family.
Check Amelia out with our fancy rock star glasses.

If you ask any 2nd grader at Columbus Academy, " What do you look forward to in 2nd Grade?", a majority of them will respond, "BUDDIES !!!" Well, last week their dream was fulfilled. 2C is paired up with Pre-K A and 2B. Some 2nd graders have a Pre-K buddy to themselves or share a Pre-K buddy with a friend from 2B.

We played a get to know you game with our Pre-K buddies and then went outside. Here are some photos from the day.

During morning meeting on 9/11/14, Ms. Saide discussed the events that occurred 13 years ago on the same day. She also read the book pictured above. This book was written and illustrated by 1st graders in Missouri.

After morning meeting the students played a dice game called Tall Towers. The object of the game was  to get your tower to the top of the page first. Check out the photos. I think they were enjoying themselves.

During the first week of school the rock stars created a   replica of themselves for their lockers.

They glued, bedazzled, stapled their hearts content to make their "little people" look fabulous for their lockers.

There were smiles on all 2C rock stars during this
fun project.

Happy Birthday, Beckett !!!
